LGBAC Committees

The Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps has eight standing committees (as of 9/20/09):

  • Executive Committee: The Executive Committee consists of seven members of the Board of Directors, plus the Artistic Directors of the Marching and Symphonic Bands. The Artistic Directors serve the Executive Committee in an advisory capacity and do not have a vote. The Executive Committee meets monthly and all Members are welcome to attend. The committee is chaired by the LGBAC Board President.
  • Finance and Audit: From our Bylaws, "The Finance and Audit Committee shall be responsible for overseeing all financial matters, including but not limited to reviewing the Corporation's annual financial budget, developing, implementing and ensuring compliance with all finance, accounting, legal and ethics policies and procedures, and engaging and coordinating with the Corporation's outside auditors with respect to the audit of the Corporation's financial statements." This committee is chaired by the LGBAC Board Treasurer.
  • Membership: Another Bylaws-mandated committee, "The Membership Committee shall be responsible for developing and carrying out strategies for the solicitation of new members and the reactivation of inactive members, maintaining and updating the membership roster, updating and distributing membership applications and membership renewal applications, [and] maintaining and distributing information to the membership".
  • Elections: Once again, from our Bylaws, "The Elections Committee shall be responsible for oversight of the Board's participation, membership, support, education and orientation of new Board members and shall also review and identify the expertise needs of the Board and officers based on the Corporation's strategic goals, develop and communicate criteria for Board member candidates, receive nominations, originate, qualify and recommend all Board membership to the members, and make nominations for election of Directors".
  • Web Services: As stated in its charter, "The Web Services Committee will manage and oversee all web-based projects for the LGBAC including but not limited to wiki, website, listserv, discussion boards, email blasts, and BandCentral."
  • Marketing and Promotions: As stated in its charter, "The Marketing and Advertising Committee shall manage and oversee all advertising, marketing and promotional activities for the Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps as delegated by the Executive Board. This includes but is not limited to promotional materials for concerts, recruitment materials, press releases, press kits, and print and electronic advertising."
  • New Home: The New Home Committee, chaired by Dale Aucoin, is charged with finding a new, permanent location for LGBAC rehearsals and performances.
  • Advisory Commitee: The Advisory Committee shall provide thoughtful advice, in a singular voice, to the LGBAC Board of Directors and Artistic staff on both policy matters and program activities; represent the needs and servce as advocates fo rthe general membership; and promote LGBAC membership, policy, performance, and outreach efforts.
  • Policies and Procedures:The Policies and Procedures Committee shall gather, collect, codify, and bring into congruence both the historical an dcurrent policies and procedures of the LGBAC and to make regular proposals for review, approval, and formal adoption and publication into the Policies and Procedures Manuals for the LGBAC, Inc.
